The Publisher of AfemaiReporters, Prince Rafiq Jimoh Omogbai have condemned the DSS invasion of Jattu Community to forcefully arrest The Ogieneni Of Uzairue Kingdom, HRH Alhaji Kadiri Imonikhe.
Detectives had blocked the monarch on his way out at popular Ayua Junction and abducted the monarch on the order of wife of Kogi State Governor, Mrs Rashida Bello.
AfemaiReporters gathered that the whole drama started when Alhaji Kadiri Imonikhe Omogbai 1V, the Ogieneni of Uzairue Kingdom installed a successor to the late King of Ayua Community in Etsako West local government of Edo State. A part of the community rejected the King’s choice, particularly the Imodagbe Family. They went ahead to create their own sign post, demarcating a portion of the community as a new community, a decision the Ogieneni was not comfortable with. He however ordered the Uzairue Vigilante Group to uproot the sign post. It was at this juncture the wife of Kogi State governor Mrs Rasheedat Yahaya bello came in and started using political power and state machinery to intimidate His Royal Highness.
Not still satisfied, she involved the Department of State Security, DSS to clampdown on Ogieneni and Jattu sons and daughters whom she feels were connected with the kingship tussle in her community.
They made first attempt to illegally arresting him but were resisted by the youths of the community. And we all thought the matter had been laid to rest but alas, the power drunk first lady of Kogi State would not rest on her sinister intentions.
But reacting to the development, Mr Omogbai described the action of the Secret police as a complete desecration of the traditional stool and a stigma on the image of the revered custodian of the culture and customs of the people of Uzairue Kingdom.
“It was an act of brigandage and unruly for operatives to storm the community in a commando style without invitation and search warrant.
The action was not only nauseating, but insulting, ridiculous, uncalled for and above all, unacceptable.
He said it was awful that the secret police wanted to treat the monarch like a common criminal if not for the resistance of the youths who stood their ground and shutdown the whole Edo north.
Omogbai urged the police to scale up their avowed peace-building synergy with the civil populace instead of engaging in the act of brigandage and unruly actions of insulting and ridiculing the traditional institution and warned Rashida to desist from such ignoble act.
