Chelsea have opened up a three-point gap at the top of the table with a 3-0 victory at Newcastle United.

The Blues were frustrated for most of the game, with the hosts putting men behind the ball.

But right-back Reece James put Thomas Tuchel’s men in control of the game, with a pair of stunning goals in the second half.

Jorginho added one more from the penalty spot after Kai Havertz was fouled in the area.

Chelsea now have 25 points, while Liverpool have 22, following a 2-2 draw with Brighton at Anfield.

Jordan Henderson and Sadio Mane gave the Reds a two-goal lead, but Graham Potter’s men fought back to equalize thanks to Enock Mwepu and Leandro Trossard.

Crystal Palace shocked champions Manchester City 2-0 at the Etihad, with Pep Guardiola’s men reduced to 10 men before the break.
