NYSC Hails Inter-tribal Marriages, Announces Corps Members’ Integration Into NHIS

The National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) has expressed delight over inter-tribal marriages involving corp members.

Benjamin Ayo-Omotade, Director of Corps Welfare and Health Services said such unions continue to foster national unity.

He spoke on Sunday while addressing the 2021 Batch C (Stream 1) members deployed to Ondo at the Permanent Orientation Camp in Ikare-Akoko.

Ayo-Omotade noted that inter-tribal marriages were hardly witnessed before the advent of the scheme in 1973.

The official said Nigerians from diverse cultural and ethnic backgrounds are promoting national unity and integration, one of NYSC’s core objectives.

“The orientation camp is fundamentally designed to instill in you virtues of industry and discipline for the task of nation-building”, NAN quoted him as saying.

Ayo-Omotade advised corps members to participate fully and actively in all the orientation course contents.

The director disclosed that the NYSC had concluded plans with the National Health Insurance Scheme (NHIS) to integrate corps members into the system
