Abuja is the capital city of Nigeria and it is situated in the center of the nation. It has a population of 2,199,758 (2010 census). The climate is hot and humid, especially in the rainy season (April to October). The city lies at the heart of administration, manufacturing, commerce and financial sectors and with more than 35 nationalities, it is considered as expatriates’ paradise.
1. Karshi
Karshi is located in the Federal Capital Territory, a satellite town situated in Abuja Municipal Area Council in Nigeria. Its geographical coordinates are 8° 49′ 40″ North, 7° 33′ 0″ East and its original name is Karshi. Karshi is about 38 km to Federal capital city of Abuja and 41 km from Karshi to Apo airport (The main gateway to Nigeria).
2. Orozo
Orozo in the region of Abuja Federal Capital Territory is a place located in Nigeria – some 13 mi or ( 21 km ) South-East of Abuja , the country’s capital.Orozo boasts of high-profile landmarks such as Loyola Jesuit College, Federal Technical Colege, Federal Treasury Academy, Ave Maria University, and a host of others.
3. Kubwa
The Kubwa area of Abuja is still young, with little development but boasting some very handsome apartments. Although this area is new, it has all the things that one might need – infrastructure laid out and maintained, access to water and electricity, and external accommodations like banks, grocers, night clubs and other entertainment facilities.
4. The Karu Urban Area
With a population of about two million people, Karu is a fast developing city that has an increase rate of 40% every year. Some towns in Karu include; Kurunduma, New Nyanya, Mararaba, New Karu, Ado, Masaka among others.
Karu is a comfortable place with affordable accommodation. A flat can be gotten at a cheap cost and other parts of Abuja are easily accessible from the area.
5. Lugbe
Lugbe is one of the most prominent suburbs in Abuja. It is situated at the Abuja Municipal Area Council (AMAC) and has five districts which are Lugbe south, Lugbe north, Lugbe central, Lugbe west and Lugbe east. You can get to Lugbe after about 17 minutes drive from the Central Business District of Abuja. And it will take just 13 minutes drive to get to Abuja Airport from Lugbe. It comprises mostly of working class people. Lugbe is developing rapidly because of the fact that is close to the centre of the city and the Abuja airport. NYSC members always choose to stay in Lugbe because it is cheaper when compared to other parts of Abuja and also the City centre and Airport is easily accessible.
6. Kuje
Kuje is a busy place that has quite a number of roadside stores that deal in pharmaceuticals, provisions, building materials, ironmongery, tools, phone cards, music CDs etc.
Kuje is developing at a very fast rate and houses are constantly built there due to the fact that it is close to Abuja and there are no more informal settlements on the airport road.
If you are a low or average income earner you can rent an apartment in this area as it would be more affordable.
7. Jikwoyi
The Jikwoyi Abuja community is a calm, quiet and peaceful place. It is located along the Nyanya-Karshi road.
