A 17-year-old university undergraduate has been murdered in Benin city during an argument over a minor road traffic accident.
The incident occurred at the Ekiadolor former Toll Gate on the ever-busy Benin-Lagos Road in Edo State, Nigeria.
According to Standard Gazette crime correspondent Festus Alenkhe who visited the crime scene gathered that the atmosphere in the locality was tensed as the boy was murdered in his father’s presence.
The deceased, Guole Eme, was travelling with his father from Lagos to Abia state when the incident happened, Standard Gazette learned.
The father and son met slight traffic congestion at the former Toll Gate near Benin City, Ekiadolor.

The problem started when the luxurious bus driver, from the Eastern part of Nigeria to Lagos, accidentally broke the ear light of Mr Eme’s vehicle, leading to an argument.
Officials of the Nigerian Customs Service were on the ground to resolve the matter.
But the conductor of the Luxury bus, Joseph Nnaji, had an argument with the 17-years-old undergraduate who came out of the car to join his father in resolving the matter.
The argument degenerated into a fight, and the bus conductor allegedly hit him in the neck; Guole fell and hit his head on the tarred road.
He died before he arrived at the University of Benin Teaching Hospital.
The situation forced the Nigerian Customs servicemen who were at the scene to immediately arrest the bus conductor Joseph Nnaji, the driver Uba Ugochukwu and the driver Assistant Henry Nwachukwu.
They were all handed over to the police for further investigation.
Guole’s father, Mr Omeh, wondered why his son could be killed over a disagreement arising from a minor road crash.
The three suspects said, “we are shocked from what came out of a little traffic accident which is now a murder situation”.
This is unfortunate, and we don’t know how to deal with the incident now”, we call for leniency,” they said.
The suspects are expected to be diligently prosecuted in court soon.
The young undergraduate body has been deposited in the mortuary in Benin city, Edo state, for autopsy and further investigation
