A member of the House of Representatives, Rev. Francis Waive, has said that All Progressive Congress (APC) will win the 2023 presidential election if Vice President Yemi Osinbajo emerges the candidate of the ruling party.
Waive who represents Ughelli/Udu constituency of Delta state insisted that nobody from the opposition Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) can match Osinbajo in 2023, Daily Sun reported .
It was gathers that the lawmaker in a statement, therefore, called on Osinbajo to contest the 2023 presidential election on the platform of APC.
Waive maintained that the vice president will win the 2023 elections with ease from the APC .
He also called on APC leaders to support Osinbajo if they want the party to win the 2023 presidential election.
He further said Vice President Osinbajo has displayed all the character traits of a good leader, adding that he has being a trustworthy and loyal deputy to President Muhammedu Buhari .
The federal lawmaker pointed out that Osinbajo has proven capacity to turn the fortunes of this country around, building on the foundation laid by the present administration.
He said Nigeria needed a “younger leader like Osinbajo who has the presence of mind, vast contacts around the country and respect for the multi-ethnic and multi-religious dimensions of our country.”
Waive also called on all people of goodwill to pray and work for the emergence of Osinbajo as president of Nigeria come 2023.
Meanwhile, the Nasarawa state, Governor Abdullahi Sule, has told the Progressive Consolidation Group that Vice President Yemi Osinbajo is a sellable presidential aspirant if he chooses to contest in 2023.
Governor Sule stated this when members of the political group paid him a courtesy visit in Lafia on Monday.
It was gathered that the governor thanked the group for the visit and for intimating him of their advocacy for the presidential candidature of Osinbajo and their desire for him to succeed President Muhammadu Buhari in 2023.
Governor Sule assured them that they had nothing to worry about if the vice president chose to contest the 2023 presidential elections, saying Osinbajo is a sellable candidate for the party whose antecedents as an astute politician speak volumes.
He said that Buhari has been the strongest pillar in the APC since its formation and the concern of progressive governors of the party was how to move the party forward after Buhari’s tenure as president.
He said:“Our concern is how we will sustain the party beyond President Buhari. So, if you come up with the idea, you know you will not only get my attention but the attention of every progressive governor in the country.”
In another report, a chieftain of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP),Segun Sowunmi, has asked Governor Yahaya Bello of Kogi state to dump the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).
Channels TV reports that Sowunmi, a spokesman for the PDP Presidential Campaign Council in 2019, made the remark during an interview on Friday, January 7, episode of Politics Today.
It was gathered that Sowunmi said he would support Bello to succeed President Muhammadu Buhari other than a member of the main opposition party.
The PDP chieftain said: “Why? He (Bello) is young, he ticks your box. He’s been a governor. I have been watching the kinds of things he’s doing, I read the kind of people who are endorsing him, but I know that he is in the party where they will never look at him.
“So maybe I will just say to my friend Yahaya, ‘ come to PDP; even if you don’ t get presidency now, we will make you a president one day in our party’. But if you stay with that party, I don’t trust them.
They don’t like young people— the only thing they’re interested in is their narrow fixation on what they interpret to be the Nigeria of now.
