Former lawmaker, who represented Kaduna Central Senatorial District in the Eighth National Assembly, Shehu Sani has asked erstwhile Lagos State Governor, Bola Tinubu to tell any prominent northerner who supports his presidential ambition to “paste your poster in the front of his house first”.
Tinubu is often addressed as “Jagaban”.
“Our Dear Jagaban, any northerner who comes to Lagos and declare his support for your presidential goal, tell him to paste your poster in the front of his house first. Yours Brotherly,” Sani, a member of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) wrote on his verified Twitter handle on Wednesday.
Recall that POLITICS NIGERIA reported on Tuesday that ahead of the 2023 poll, Tinubu, the National Leader of the All Progressives Congress (APC), formally dropped the hint that he would aspire to succeed President Muhammadu Buhari.
Tinubu, who had a closed-door meeting with Northern elders under the aegis of Northern Alliance Committee, yesterday in Abuja, assured that he would make his intention to vie for the exalted seat of the presidency known soon.
He fielded questions from newsmen at the end of the parley and acknowledged that he is already consulting widely with stakeholders in the party on his alleged aspiration to administer the country.
“I’m not going to turn them (Nigerians who are clamouring for him to contest) down, but I will still effectively and widely consult, particularly brainstorm with my friends and find a date to come out openly and tell Nigerians,” Tinubu told journalists.
