Operatives of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) have arrested a 65-years-old man, Samuel Darisa, for allegedly defiling a 10-year-old girl at Agba Dam area, GRA, Ilorin, the Kwara State capital.
It was gathered that a concerned neighbour tipped the NSCDC with useful information which they used to arrest the man who works as a security guard.
The Kwara state NSCDC spokesperson, Babawale Afolabi told journalists that said that the suspect was arrested after a tip-off by a concerned neighbour who allegedly caught them in the act.
Babawale stated that the suspect confessed to have committed the crime.
“The man however stated that the minor consented to the affair since it was not only one time he had carnal knowledge of the minor,” he said.
He added that the suspect would be charged after the completion of investigations.
In a related development, the Akwa Ibom State Police Command has arrested a woman, Christiana Wilson, from Eket local government area, who allegedly conspired with four others to murder her 19-year-old stepson identified as Edidiong Wilson.
The Commissioner of Police, Andrew Amiengheme, who paraded the suspects before newsmen at the Police Headquarters, Ikot Akpan Abia, Uyo, on Friday, March 26, said the principal suspect, Christiana confessed to the crime.
