Nigerian Police Force Spokesman CSP Oluwuyiwa Adejobi just enlightened a twitter user who made a statement that police officers don’t follow due process and when a civilian tries to reason with them, they assault them.
CSP Oluwuyiwa Adejobi said, and I quote, “Any policeman who slaps you has committed an offence of asaualt. No policeman is allowed to slap or flog u. He has items to apply minimum force on you as stipulated by law but not slap or whip. Its only you baton or teaser or spray a policeman can use on you while on duty not slap”
Recall, that a couple of days ago, a Nigerian Corper was said to have raised an alarm for passers-by to see what was going on when he was questioned by police officers and they reportedly tried to take his phone. The Corp member was said to be Inciting the public against the police and calling them thieves is wrong.
So according to CSP Oluwuyiwa Adejobi, he should have been patient enough to follow due process in getting his phone or make calls like every other person which was what brought about the reaction by this social media user.
