The inauguration of the People’s Democratic Party’s (PDP) Presidential Campaign Council in Kano State appears to have suffered a major setback, as a popular party chieftain, Ibrahim Al Amin Little, who was appointed the Council’s Deputy Director, has declined the offer.
Ibrahim Amin Little, who has since issued a rebuttal to the appointment, told the Daily Sun that given his political history as a former state party chairman, governorship candidate, and aspirant at various times, the recent appointment was the equivalent of dragging him several steps backwards.
The Council’s members included, among others, Adamu Yanusa Dangwani as Director, Umar Musa Maimensileta as Secretary, Professor Umar Faruk Jibril as Director of Media and Publicity, Mutari Janguaza as Director of Finance, and Barrister Hadiza Adodo as Director of Women Affairs.
According to Daily Sun, Shekarau, the arrowhead of the Atiku/Okowa campaign project in the state, and Ibrahim Amin Little, who is related to Atiku by marriage, are not the best of political soul mates.
According to a party source, Shekarau took over the APP governorship ticket from Ibrahim Amin Little years ago through the use of a Supreme Court judgment, adding that certain wounds do not simply heal with the passage of time.
Furthermore, it is widely assumed that Shekarau and his faction in the party are uneasy with Atiku’s son-in-law becoming the project’s Director, as this would undermine their freedom to operate as they see fit.
