National president of South-South Youth Initiative, Comrade lmeabe Saviour Oscar, has said former governor of Rivers state, Nyesom Ezenwo Wike, disappointed Rivers people.
He said Wike’s administration brought pains to the people, adding that, “His administration’s poor performance has only left Rivers people with many regrets instead of outpouring of accolades and praises,” lmeabe stated.
He said in a statement that some believe in the media jamboree of former Governor Wike who painted his little efforts in Obio/ Akpor local government and Port Harcourt City local government areas as if he painted every part of the state with gold.
Insisting that the former governor failed in every aspect, he said: “Upon the birth of that administration, Wike promised everyone that listened to him juicy future, but as we evaluate his administration today, it is clear that he performed below expectation.
“We engaged his administration in several fora demanding that he fulfill his promises to the people of the state, but we watch with interest and we conclude that Wike was not a governor for the people. He was governor for Rumuepirikom and Obio/ Akpor local government area.”
The youth leader stated further that the governor promised to ensure promotion of civil servants with all their entitlements paid by his administration.
He said Wike failed to fulfill his promises adding, “The former governor had in 2015 and 2019 vowed to create 10,000 jobs to remove youth off the streets and engage them meaningfully. But the reverse was the case. We only saw temporary employments given to few individuals at flyover construction sites.
“The jobs were terminated at the completion of those projects. We also heard of few opportunities created for direct cronies and family members of the former governor from Rumuepirikom and Obio/ Akpor which is Wike’s country home.
“The former governor also failed to give scholarship to students of Rivers state origin as promised and he who fails to invest in education fails in preparing the future generations,” the statement reads in part.
