.. says all sea and air routes must be blocked
President Bola Tinubu has written to the Senate on Friday seeking support for Nigeria’s military intervention in Niger Republic.
The letter was read at plenary by the Senate president, Godswill Akpabio.
The president also demanded a total blockade of the sea and air routes to the country following the military coup.
Politics Nigeria recalls the military overthrew the democratically elected government in Niger Republic a few weeks ago.
It also seized assets of all politically exposed and senior persons of the government of Niger in the country based on the ECOWAS resolution.
President Tinubu had also sent a high-powered delegation to the country to meet with the coup leaders on Thursday.
The delegation led by General Abdulsalami Abubakar (rtd) only met with representatives of the junta.
Subsequently, Niger severed ties with Nigeria, Togo, France, its coloniser, and the United States.
President Tinubu is dead wrong to declare war on Niger. Niger is a souvreign country and has the right to chose its friends. France has exploited our continent for too long and must leave us alone to decide who our friends are. France’s continuous colonization and exploitation of Africa must end. Let Tinubu lead ECOWAS to stop Biya’s french sponsored GENOCIDE on poor Ambazonian people. Tinubu has started on a very wrong footing and will not stay long in power in Nigeria.
