2016 and 2020 the elections that brought Obaseki the nightmare of Edo State was made possible by character assassination of his opponent the revered pastor Ize Iyamu and a campaign of calumny against the current occupant of Aso Rock president Bola Ahmed Tinubu and Senator Adams Oshiomole, based on a concorted notion of godfatherism.
The 2020 campaign that was supposed to spotlight the incompetence,ineptitude and inefficiencies of Obaseki’s four years in office was instead turned into a baseless campaign of “Edo no bi Lagos” by the uninformed social media ignoramus whose wallets were lined by the governor with state funds.
Today under governor Obaseki, Edo State is in a state of industrial and infrastructural peril. The security architecture despite the over 800 million naira monthly allocation has epileptically collapsed.
Nowhere in Edo State is safe today. Farmers cannot go to their farms, market women cannot travel for commerce, school children don’t have school buildings and teachers . State roads are no longer in existence .
Infact Edo State is in a state of anarchy and quagmire. The sycophants that were once his mouth piece are all but gone except a few whom he deceived into believing in an unholy agenda of it is their turn to produce the governorship of the state 2024. Edo citizens now wish to have Edo like Lagos.
The president in his love for the state and its citizens during his recent campaigns promised to make Edo State as great as Lagos. We believe he will base on his antecedents. Some of the Binis that voted Obaseki are now regretting their decisions.
They are secretly and seriously bemoaning their terrible decision of voting Obaseki for governor. Infrastructural development in Benin City is basically nonexistent to say the least, the glory of the city is all but gone under Obaseki. The Binis cannot lay claim to the dividends of democracy under Obaseki. They are disappointed, betrayed and bewildered. There is set to be a concerted effort within the inner decision making circles of the Binis to have Pastor Ize Iyamu throw in his hat and run for the highest office in this state .The citizens trust his leadership, his love for the state and its institutions. The Binis, infact the Edos are fedup with Obaseki.
I join the Binis and the good people of the state in urging Pastor Ize Iyamu to run. I know his passion for greatness for EdoState. He knows the terrain and he will work positively for the benefits of all. Obaseki is not a happy man, he is a man not at peace with himself. If he is not fighting with the palace today ,he is fighting with his party . If he is not fighting his party , he is fighting his deputy. Governance has been thrown to the wind in EdoState. This has been the hallmark of Obaseki’s administration and everyone is frustrated and cannot wait for his ignominious reign to come to an end. 2024 , we must devoid ourselves from the continuous governance by Lilliputians who have nothing tangible for the state.
Many in the previous administration who stole billions of our infrastructural developmental funds must not be allowed to use our stolen patrimony to oppress and contest in 2024. They are the reason we do not have good roads today in our state. All should rally round Pastor Ize Iyamu to come out and declare for the highest office in the state. We are anxiously awaiting on you Pastor.
