CONGRATULATORY MESSAGE
His Excellency, Senator Monday Okpebholo,
The Governor of Edo State.
I write to extend my warmest and most heartfelt congratulations to you on the final and conclusive affirmation of your victory in the Edo State Governorship Election held on 21st September, 2024, by the Supreme Court of Nigeria, Thursday, 10th July, 2025.
This historic ruling by the apex court crowns a series of well-considered judicial verdicts that have consistently upheld the will of the people. On 2nd April, 2025, the Edo State Governorship Election Petition Tribunal, chaired by Honourable Justice Wilfred Kpochi, dismissed the petition filed by the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and its candidate, Mr. Asue Ighodalo, declaring the case lacking in merit. This position was further reinforced on 29th May, 2025, when the Court of Appeal in Abuja unanimously upheld the Tribunal’s judgment.
Today, the Supreme Court has brought finality to this legal journey, affirming the rulings of both the Tribunal and the Appeal Court, thereby unequivocally declaring you the duly elected Governor of Edo State. This is not only a victory for you and our great party, the All Progressives Congress (APC), but also a victory for democracy, justice, and the resilient people of Edo State.
Your Excellency, your steadfastness, humility, and unwavering focus throughout this legal process have been truly admirable. With this judicial affirmation, there is renewed hope and confidence in your leadership, especially in the full implementation of the S.H.I.N.E. agenda to bring sustainable growth and development to all corners of the State.
As Honourable Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, I reaffirm my total loyalty to your administration and assure you of my Ministry’s continued support in deepening good governance at the grassroots and strengthening our revered traditional institutions.
