The newly appointed Commissioner for Budget and Economic Planning, *Dr. Elizabeth Ebosele*, has expressed her readiness to hit the ground running, emphasizing the ministry’s pivotal role in driving economic growth in Edo State.
The Honourable Commissioner made this known during a meeting with management staff at the ministry’s headquarters, describing her appointment as a call to action and responsibility. She acknowledged the trust reposed in her by His Excellency, the Executive Governor of Edo State, *Senator Monday Okpebholo* describing it as a significant responsibility. Dr. Ebosele appreciated the opportunity to serve and reiterated the ministry’s vital role in stimulating economic growth and driving development across the state.
Dr. Ebosele reaffirmed her commitment to providing purposeful leadership, fostering teamwork, and ensuring effective planning and budget implementation to propel Edo State’s economic transformation.
According to her, the period ahead is crucial as the state prepares for the 2026 budget year, noting that both management and staff are familiar with the process and are fully prepared to deliver.
“We have a lot of tasks ahead. This is not new to us, and I believe we are ready,” she affirmed.
Earlier, the Functioning Permanent Secretary, *Mr. Kingsley Ogbodu*, welcomed the Commissioner, noting that her wealth of experience has not gone unnoticed. He described her appointment as *“a round peg in a round hole”* and assured her of the ministry’s cooperation and commitment toward achieving the administration’s five-point *SHINE Agenda*
Her assumption of duty was marked by a brief welcome ceremony, which included a prayer session led by *Rev. Fr. Emmanuel Chekwube*, who prayed for wisdom, guidance, and success as she assumes her new role. The Honourable Commissioner was later conducted on a guided tour of the ministry’s departments and offices by the Functioning Permanent Secretary and other directors.
The highlight of the meeting was the presentation of a congratulatory card to formally welcome the Honourable Commissioner, presented by Mr. Ogbodu on behalf of the management and staff of the ministry.
