BENIN – A Middle-aged man has abandoned his wife and three children in a Point of Sales shop in Oluku near Benin City, Edo state Nigeria.
According to Standard Gazette, it was gathered that the man went to the POS shop with his wife and three children, gave his Automated Machine (ATM) Card to the female POS attendant and requested for the sum of Forty-Three Thousand Naira.
‘The transaction did not go through’, POS agent told Standard Gazette.
It was gathered that the man then told the POS attendant to give him the Forty-Three thousand naira (N43,000) to use it for an urgent matter.
He left his wife Mrs Faith David and three children behind as an assurance that he would return swiftly.
The transaction happened at 3 PM on 9 January 2020 and as at press time 11:02 PM same day, the man is yet to return.
After waiting endlessly, the POS attendant then reported the matter to the men of the Ekiadolor Police Division of the Edo State Police command who have now taken the woman and her three children into safe custody.
Speaking with Standard Gazette correspondent, Festus Alenkhe, the POS Operator described the man’s action as “stealing by trick”.
She, however, blamed the situation on the current economic problem in the country.
Mrs Faith who was in tears appealed to kindhearted Nigerians to come to her aid by ensuring she leaves the police station with her kids.
She wondered why her husband decided to use her and the children as collateral to take money from the POS shop.
