•13 aides in DSS facility
Efforts have been initiated to secure the release of aides working with Chief Sunday Adeyemo, popularly known as Sunday Igboho, who were arrested during the raid by the Department of State Services (DSS) on the activist’s house.
The DSS said a joint team of security operatives had raided Igboho’s residence last week based on an intelligence report.
The DSS paraded 12 of Igboho’s followers, saying one other was being profiled.
Those arrested and paraded were: Abdulateef Ofeyagbe; Amoda Babatunde, aka Lady ‘K’, Tajudeen Erinoyen, Diakola Ademola, Abideen Shittu, Jamiu Noah, Ayobami Donald, Adelabe Usman, Oluwapelumi Kunle, Raji Kazeem, Taiwo Opeyemi and Bamidele Sunday.
The counsel for Igboho, Chief Yomi Aliu (SAN), has also written the DSS, Inspector General of Police and the Federal Government to pay damages in the sum of N500 million to his client as compensation for the “destruction of his property”.
Igboho’s spokesperson, Olayomi Koiki in a live programme early yesterday morning monitored by The Nation, stated that the lawyers will be meeting the DSS today to speak with those detained and to subsequently secure their release.
He said, “I can confirm officially that by Monday morning, the barrister would have opportunity to meet with those in the hands of the DSS and if they do not allow them (lawyers) to see them (detained) on Monday, we’ll tell you what we are going to do next”
“Efforts are ongoing by the barristers to have a conversation with them, I have spoken to the barrister and he promised to give an update.”
Koiki also berated the DSS for allegedly holding back the corpses of those, who were killed during the raid
