A closed-circuit television (CCTV) footage has emerged showing how an unidentified lady deliberately turned on a gas cooker at the popular Ebeano Supermarket in Abuja that resulted in an explosion.
It will be recalled that on Saturday, July 17, there was a massive explosion at the Prince Ebeano Supermarket in the Gudu, Lokogoma axis of Abuja.
Goods worth millions of Naira were said to have been razed in the fire.
In the video sighted by this newspaper, the lady could be seen pretending to pick something, before turning on the gas cooker and leaving without anything.
Confirming the fire incident, Mr. Ibrahim Muhammad, the Public Relations Officer (PRO) of the Federal Capital Territory Fire Service had told the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) that firefighters from several fire service stations in Asokoro, Garki, Games Village, and the National Judicial Institute in Abuja combated the raging fire from Saturday till Sunday.
The fire service PRO had said that the agency was not sure of what caused the fire outbreak, stating that “Until after the fire has been put off we cannot say if any life was lost to the inferno.”
This newspaper learned that all hands are on deck to find and arrest the culprit captured in the video.
