LIKE a man whom the villagers want to set ablaze having chosen to drench himself with gasoline before arriving at the scene, Governor Godwin Obaseki of Edo sets the stage for his crucifix by praising Lt. Gen Tukur Buratai.
The former Chief of Army Staff and current Ambassador to Benin Republic, Lt. Gen Tukur Buratai was said to have paid a courtesy visit to the Edo State Governor, at the weekend.
Obaseki said he was optimistic that the country would overcome its present security challenges.
The visit was put up on Governor Obaseki’s official Facebook page.
“I expressed optimism that the country will overcome its present security challenges.
“I n extolling Buratai for his service to the nation, I stressed that the foundation he laid as Chief of Army Staff is what we are building on today.
“As a state, we will continue to work with the national authorities.
“That is where we need leaders like the ex-Army chief, Obaseki enthused.
Political pundits will recall that the same Gen Buratai said that the insurgency will be there for at least twenty more years so one wonders the raison d’etre behind Obaseki being economical with the truth on this highly sensitive issue! Why did he choose to be politically correct? Why is he trying to assault the collective intelligence of Edolites?
Below are some comments on the clownish trip on

Oga stop all these pictures everywhere. Without funding for infrastructure the economy will be zero. No more jobs, indigenous contractors are suffering and it’s also making the average Edo youth suffer. I wish you just did your first term and leave. I never believed I will ever criticize your government.
Mr. Governor do something. No commissioners, no chairman nor vice or councilors. What are you thinking sir because that is strange.
Chris O. Iyamu:
I am already so disappointed in this government. Many top politicians including Uncle Ize Iyamu, Barr Usoh said so many things that I never believed. Now I can see. Very dubious, tricky and sneaky person to be a State Governor. God will judge you if you live Edo worse than what it is today. Ekenwan road is a total mess and shameful to behold.
Murphy Osaigbovo Aigbekaen:
Edo people expect more development strides from you in this second term! Go ahead and do the needful
Edo Godsent fgi: Pls Mr. Governor, don’t build on Buratai’s foundation ooo. That one foundation is a sandy one without strong brinks.
Curtis Eghosa Ugbo: What is this Boko-Haram Commander doing in Edo State? He should go and die in shame, and he shouldn’t visit our Great Oba of Benin Palace, he is not welcome!!!
Engr Kelvin Okpebholo: This Government, just dey make me laugh…
Ralph Adaba: Just see gov ,he can’t make a normal statement on tv , God forbid bad tin
Osas Andy: I am so disappointed seeing you associate with this failed and corrupt Buratai, he was one of those that destroyed the Nigeria security network because of ethnicity.
Ohio Freshness: If buratai actually congratulated you on developmental strides then he just succeeded in mocking you too just as you did when you said you’re building on the security foundation he laid while he was chief of Army staff . The both of you are jokers ??????????
Austin Uhonoma: Obaseki as you turn back against us after voting you for second time. EDO state will remember your failure. Betrayed family obaseki. No security . No. road no street light. You always paint what oshomule did before. Show it in Facebook nonsense governor
