I have listened and read so many write-ups about Governor Obaseki’s sour relationship wit PDP, particularly, the dominant Edo PDP leaders, popularly referred to as old PDP.
I want to say that PDP accepted Governor Obaseki’s and his followers from APC into their fold. They all discarded APC membership and were accommodated into their new political abode. From that moment, they became members of the same political party with shared aspirations, values and objectives.
In the last gubernatorial election, they all worked together and returned Governor Obaseki for second term. It is ironical to hear from some of the leaders that Gov Obaseki can decide to go wit his govt and they should be allowed to go with the party. There is no political arrangement of such anywhere in modern democracy.
Governor obaseki actions and inactions and his failing govt cannot be divorced from the political party that produced him.
Edo people are not interested in their internal wranglings but are concern that a PDP led govt cannot constitute a mere cabinet a year after being sworn into office.
They are worried that PDP led govt cannot manage mere covid 19 vaccination. They are bothered that Edo state is stil being run with haphazard legislative assembly.
Edo people are not happy that local govt administration have been left in the hands of civil servants. Edo people are shocked of the lack of effective security architecture to tackle the security situation in the state.
Edo people are saying there are no teachers in their schools, no nurses and doctors in their hospitals.
The state is overwhelmed with incessant kidnappings on our high ways, banditry and arm robberies.
PDP as a party must take responsibility and call their governor to order.
PDP promised Edo people during the electioneering campaign that with the coming of Governor Obaseki second term, Edo people will enjoy good governance. They cannot now renege in their promises by separating their party from Obaseki’s govt.
Governor obaseki’s failures in governance is certainly PDP failed promises to Edo people. The social contract of Governor Obaseki’s second term was signed, sealed and delivered to Edo people by the PDP.
PDP cannot broke that contract now, they are bound to deliver to Edo people the contents of the contract.
