There are conflicting reports surrounding the killing of the husband to the former Director General of NAFDAC, Dora Akunyili. Her husband, Chike Akunyili was reportedly killed by unknown gunmen according to a section of the media.
The deceased was reportedly at the University of Nigeria Nsukka Alumni Association (UNAA) where the late Dora was honoured post humously. A member of Akunyili’s family claimed it was members of the dreaded IPOB, who had declared a Sit-at-home yesterday (Monday) to demand for self-actualization for the South East.
Meanwhile, the police in Anambra state are yet to issue a statement regarding the tragic incident, which also included 7 other persons according to eyewitness account.
The lack of response of the Nigerian Police, in Anambra state as at this time may be unconnected to the activities of unknown gunmen wrecking havoc on police formations in the South East. A matter which has caused panic within the force in the region.
