Where people keep their Conscience when defending Governor Godwin Obaseki over his total disregard for the Party that brought him to Power still surprises me. A man who the Peoples Democratic Party set aside its rules to make its Governorship Candidate, then became the Governor, made his first, appointment (Secretary), second appointment (Chief of Staff) and even up to about 13 Appointment without considering the fact that he was not an Independent Candidate, but contested under a Political Party and was made to win through the popularity of that Party, to you, is doing the right thing right?
Sometimes, it is better you just remain mute rather than coming out to make jest of yourself thinking you are making lot of sense. Some even go as far as telling us we would go back to opposition. What is actually your problem, a Party that has never lost any Presidential election since they have been in opposition, a Party that had two Senators and 4 House of Representatives members, a Party that has never run out of funds to sponsor themselves in any election even while they are not in Government and a Party whose major leaders will comfortably reject very expensive cars as gift from even the Government of the day even while they are in the same Party, you still seat comfortably in your house and threaten such a Political Party with being in Opposition? Please between PDP and APC which has actually been in opposition in terms of result and unity for the past 11 years?
The problem we always have with many of you on this space is sentiment and stomach infrastructure. While those who have enough to eat and drink feels they should continue to defend some Politicians because of sentiment of any kind, those who do not have enough to eat and drink, but unknowlingly to them, can survive with the little they have, feels they will soon stop surviving and as such, needs to defend whatever they see and refuse to tell the Governor or people involved the truth because that might deprive them of one Appointment or the other.
The Governor can not be smarter than everybody in the Party and in the State. You can not claim there is crisis in PDP or there are issues yet to be resolved in the Party, yet, you are making your appointments into the best Positions. An in the mind of some people, he is reserving some space till after the issues are resolved. You can not be occupying the very best Positions with your own people by thinking you are smart and you are leaving what the Esan people call IHORO for others. If you want to resolve the issues in the Party, please do so decisively and with all sincerity and stop playing games with the sensibility of Noble Party men.
Was it not surprising that it was just a day to a claimed Stakeholders Meeting that the notice was sent out to the Party whose Stakeholders are not expected to all be in Edo State or to be jobless enough not to have already lined up engagements filling that space and time? The question is, was that meeting planned overnight with the notice sent out the next day? Was there not suppose to have at least been a one week notice? Were you expecting the leaders to begin to run down to Edo State in a meeting that was not even tagged an Emergency meeting? To you, is this Smartness or what exactly? Why are we not just sincere with ourselves in this Party matters or Harmonization attempt for crying out loud? Was it not even more surprising that a list that was compiled with PDP Secretary was later in the day changed with many names removed without the knowledge of the PDP Secretary in question for reasons best known to them?
For the record, no PDP leaders has interfered in the ongoing Appointment, I don’t think there is anyone of them who will even reduce themselves to the point of submitting any name that must be appointment. Since the criteria was set by the Governor, they abide by it and all handsup, but you can not be setting the rules, working with it and still not be pleased when people identify some errors. It is like being a judge in your own case. You can not tell us only a section of the Party which many call “new PDP” are the only ones who are qualified to be appointed in the rules only you set.
It really amazes me to see that it is the PDP and its leaders that are being beaten and while they are not crying, those beating them are running out to cry of being beaten by the PDP. Defending Governor Obaseki and not refusing to tell him the truth will be very inimical to our great Party, the Government and Governance in general. If we must Unite Edo PDP, it must be with a sincere and transparent approach, not this smart games some people are trying to play on those they met in the game of Politics. If you claim you love the Governor, give him good advise the way we have been doing and stop the eyes service because of Appointment, Sentiment or whatever is motivating you to continue to support him while he’s descending the dangerous valley. We love our Governor and would continue to correct him at all time until after the Appointments when we will leave the stage for those who did not get it to cry till thy Kingdom come, that cry they are surprisingly refusing to cry now.
