Members of Edo Civil Society Organisations were in court today in respect of the appeal filed by Edo state government (waste management board and accredited waste managers)
The Edo state government is praying the appellate court to up turn the hight court judgement that had ruled against them.
Dele Igbinedion Esq in representing the interest of some victims of oppression and intimidation by a waste manager had approached a state high court to determine their constitutional power to carry out the business of waste management.
A state high court had ruled against the state government declaring that they dont have the right to evacuate waste and related matters, that it is solely the responsibility of the local government councils.
The appeal has been adjourned to a latter date that will be communicated to the general public for final hearing of the appeal.
