PHOTOS: Urhobo Lady Breaks 100-Year Tradition, Inherits Father’s Chieftaincy Title

A Pidgin English sports commentator, Tracy Chapele-Ugo has bagged a chieftaincy title belonging to her father.

Chapele revealed that the title was previously conferred on her father and in over 100 years, the title has never been given to a woman especially if there are sons in the family.

She wrote, “In almost a 100 years #Urhobo Kings don’t give a father’s chieftaincy title to his daughter especially when there are sons. Today my family/People/Elders/Ovie found me worthy. Daddy’s chieftaincy title has been transferred to me. Chief Suo Chapele; Okugbe 2 of Udu Kingdom.”
