Ike Ekweremadu, Former Deputy Senate President has said that it would have come as a surprise if President Muhammadu Buhari had said he would release the secession agitator, Nnamdi KANU, noting that every arm of government, including the judiciary has its own independence. He also said that there are certain procedures that most be taken before Nnamdi Kanu can be released.
The former senate president, however, noted that there is a political solution in the case of Nnamdi Kanu. He said that President Muhammad didn’t rule out the fact that there is a political solution. Ike Ekwerewadu gave the assurance that the southeast will continue to seek for political solutions and carry the Federal Government along.
It should be recalled that some southeast elders had met with President Buhari in Abuja to demand for the unconditional release of Nnamdi Kanu. Although the president had told them it would be difficult because he will not like to interfere in the process of the judiciary, he had assured them that he would consider their request.
Meanwhile, speaking during an interview on Channels Television, President Buhari dismissed the call for the unconditional release of the IPOB leader, Nnamdi Kanu
