TO WHOM IT MAY CONCERN
RE: PURPORTED RETURN OF MR. TONY OKONIGENE TO THE PDP
I write as the Ward Chairman of the PDP, Ward 6, in the Esan Central Local Government Area of Edo State in response to the purported return of Mr. Tony Okonigene to PDP Ward 6.
To put the record straight, Mr. Tony Okonigene left PDP on the 30th June, 2020 upon tendering his resignation letter. That is the latest information at the disposal of the Ward Executive Members hence they are not aware of the rumours about his purported return to the party.
The Party’s Constitution clearly spells out the procedures in accepting a lost member like Mr. Tony Okonigene, particularly section 8 (16) thereof which provides as follows: “Any Party Member who loses his Membership for reasons other than nonpayment of annual subscription may be readmitted on the recommendation of his Ward Executive Committee, through the Local Government Area Executive Committee to the State Chapter of the Party, and ultimately made to the National Working Committee, subject to ratification by the National Executive Committee”.
The above provision is very clear and has not been met by the lost member, Mr. Tony Okonigene.
The Social Media has been awash with the fake news of Mr. Tony Okonigene rejoining the Party at the Ward level which is totally FALSE and should be disregarded by all well meaning party Faithfuls as no such activity ever took place in the ward. If there is any such programme in re-admitting the said Mr. Tony Okonigene, I shall announce same to the General Public whenever he chooses to return to the Party upon fulfilling the aforementioned PDP constitutional provision.
At this point, He, Mr Tony Okonigene has NOT returned to the Party in Ward 6. Therefore, he remains an APC member and the General Public should treat him as such.
This Publication became necessary to avoid a situation wherein he carries out any negative activity and be addressed as a PDP member. He is NOT a PDP member. He merely did a club meeting with people who are alien to Ward 6 PDP members.
