Edo PDP Crisis As APC, PDP Political Leaders Blast Adjoto

Adjoto Kabiru, a House Representives hopeful in Akoko-Edo, Under Bombardment by political party leaders in Edo State over his actions capable of bringing down democracy in the state.

SEVERAL political party leaders both from APC and PDP in Edo State has condemned in strong words the notoriety of Adjoto Kabiru for using Governor Godwin Obaseki’s name to stop a proposed meeting of PDP stakeholders in Akoko-Edo. According to the leaders who joined words in different veins said the action of the ex-speaker of the House of Assembly in Edo State is inimical to the growth of democracy in the state.

Engr. Fred Attah, the PDP National Leader said, “the action is capable of truncating democratic processes in Edo State and must be discouraged and condemned by every lover of democracy in the state across party lines.” Adding to this condemnation, the Chairman of PDP Akoko-Edo, Prince Ogunubi said, “we must not allow for these kinds of actions in the 21st century especially when we are faced with the prospect of winning the fight of democracy over autocracy. We must all come together to condemn this act of brigandary.”

Without mincing words, a two time House of Representives aspirant in Akoko-Edo and Federal Commissioner of Public Complaint Commission, Chief Bankole Balogun, the Otienete of Igarra said, “I’m still shocked and flabbergasted at the audacity and introduction of thugs into our politics in Akoko edo.

This is very strange and ominous. My initial reaction on this onslaught on our party is indescribable! Unthinkable and unheard of! We must not allow thugs and miscreants desecrate the good works of the Ekhabafes, Akoguns, Lakojus, Emeasalus and countless hard working and dedicated democrats of the PDP. And I count myself as one of these people.

The events is alien to us, even where we have disagreements in the past, we have never resorted to thuggery. This is not my PDP that I’m a stakeholder therein ! If it is true that he was responsible for todays thuggery and obstruction of a legally constituted party meeting, he must be brought to order and sanctioned. The Governor must know that his name is being used by a desperate and unpopular fellow in Akoko-Edo. I am confident, supremely confident that this rascality will be ended.” Another stakeholder, Segun Balogun was unreserved in his comment.

“MY TAKE ON THE BOTCHED PROPOSED AKOKO EDO PDP EXCO MEETING.
I remember I forewarned that the euphoria generated by the news of their likely defection which eventually became a reality, wasn’t going to be a long lasting one. The earlier conceived added value that they were supposedly coming with and the eventual outcome of their coming is now left for members to assess. Let us weigh the burdens and the reliefs and then decide on how to manage the brewing crisis that is in the offing.

I beg to disagree that he learnt the art of feasting on political turmoil from the APC; no! he was like this in the days of late Barrister Samson Ekhabafe in the PDP before he moved to the APC. No matter the political level or height he thinks he has achieved, he should be told, on no uncertain terms, that he’s subject to the constitution of the party. The seed of discord sown in the PDP by those who see themselves as the ASSETS of the party while others, especially the legacy members, have suddenly become liabilities, is sprouting dangerously! The times are ominous for the party unless proactive steps are taken by genuine party leaders to nip this problem in the bud.”

Chief Osagie Esosa, an APC chieftain from Oredo who called us said, “this act is reckless and must be condemned. We want a situation in Edo State irrespective of party, where people can go on with their constitutional duties without being harassed using the name of the Governor.”

Another APC stakeholder from Esan, Barister Iluobe Moses, “to stop members of a political party from exercising their legal rights of freedom of association is an anti-democratic nuisance and must utterly condemned. I am of the APC but I stand for what is right above what is wrong. If this is done to the party he belongs, where he is supposed to be a card carrying member no matter what the disagreement is, what will stop him from demolishing the APC secretariat in the LGA? We must all come together irrespective of political affiliations to condemn this illegal act.”

Since the action happened, a lot of calls and written notes to numerous to mention have been coming to us condemning the action of Adjoto Kabiru who was last year fingered in relation to an 80 year old man that was beaten by thugs loyal to him.
