Edo APC 14 Lawmakers-Elect Vs Obaseki: Trouble As Group Calls For Imuse’s Resignation Over Failure To Provide Leadership

By Clifford Osaro, Benin City

A Pressure Group under the All Progressives Congress, Movement For Quality Representation, has urged the Edo State Chairman of the APC, Col. David Imuse (Rtd) to honourably resign his position to avoid being disgraced from Office following a letter written by the 14 Edo APC Lawmakers Elect to the National Chairman of the People’s Democratic Party, Senator Iyorcha Ayu.

In the Petition dated February 4, 2022 and signed by Rt. Hon. Victor Edoror on behalf of the embattled fourteen Members, they appealed to the National Chairman of the PDP to come to their rescue.

The Group, in a Statement signed by its President, Mr. Samuel Otokhigbe and made available to newsmen in Benin City yesterday stated that it has become apparent that Imuse lacks capacity , completely ignorant and naive and without understanding of political party administration. The group further described Imuse as a leader that has failed in his responsibility of providing the needed leadership to the members of the Party.

According to him, the emergence of Col. David Imuse as the State Chairman of the Party has brought reproach and setback to the party in view of the prevailing circumstances affecting the party.
The statement said” our members -elect have been left in the lurch by the leadership and are now running everywhere on their own to seek solutions. It is pathetic”
He asserted that Col. Imuse Rtd has set a bad precedent in the history of democracy in Edo State that under his watch, the Fourteen Lawmakers Elected under APC were denied their rights to perform their Constitutional roles of representing their various Constituencies.

Mr. Otokhigbe said the APC State Chairman has no leadership qualities to pilot the affairs of the Party, hence, the urgent need for his resignation.

They also accused Imuse of involving in actions that are capable of depleting the fortunes of the Party in the State.

His Word” We want to state without fear or favour that the party has lost implicit confidence in the leadership of Imuse. APC in Edo State is now a laughing stock as a result of inefficiency, high handedness and disregard to the Party Constitution amongst others .

It would be recalled that last weekend, Fourteen Members Elected under the platform of the APC wrote an appeal letter to the National Chairman of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP), Senator Iyorcha Ayu to prevail on the Governor, Mr. Godwin Obaseki and his deputy, Mr. Philip Shaibu to swear them in as members of the State House Of Assembly
