REBUTTAL:
*RE: ‘ _2023: Urhobos in Warri South vow 100% vote for Omo-Agege, APC’._*
Our attention has been drawn to a frivolous publication with the above caption.
The above named publication in circulation whose intention is to try to deceive APC Warri South LGA members and the public to whip up unnecessary sentiments in an attempt to woo people to their illegal faction; and to give unwarranted kudos to its signatories as enlisted in the publication.
Ordinary, the leadership of the Party in the aforementioned LGA do not intend to respond but thought it wise for the benefits of its teeming supporters and the general public.
You will recalled that its Executive Committee held its general meeting on Thursday, February 17, 2022 at Rewane Villa opposite Okurode Urhobo junction, Warri, comprised mainly the Itsekiris, Urhobos, Ijaws, Yorubas, Hausas and Igbos; where its LGA Chairman, Mr Rone Nelson appraised members of the State Council of Leaders led by the Honourable Minister of State for Labour and Employment, Chief Festus Keyamo (SAN), for the beautiful works to rebuild the broken walls of the Party in the State and advised members not to be moved by the ‘ *purported inauguration of a factional State Executive Committee led by one of Senator Ovie Omo-Agege’s Aides, Engr. Omene Sobotie’*, were Rone had enjoined Party members in the Local Government Area to support the leadership of the Hon. (Barr.) Buowe Silas led State Executive Committee, as such, it is important to note the following:
1. That as wrongly posited by the authors of the aforesaid frivolous publication, there was NEVER a time members of our great Party, especially from the Urhobo extraction in Warri South LGA made a resolution to mobilize neither its Party nor members of other political Parties for Senator Ovie Omo-Agege’s governorship ambition.
2. It is laughable to have read their ‘acclaimed’ vowed to deliver ALL Urhobo Wards; *whereas one of the aforementioned signatories who hailed from Okumagba 1 Ward 11 with ONLY fifteen Polling Units, could not deliver its Ward to the opposition Party while a member of the Alliance for Democracy (AD) in 2003; Democratic People’s Party (DPP) in 2007 & 2011; Labour Party (LP) in 2015 and the All Progressives Congress (APC) in 2019 governorship/House of Assembly elections* respectively.
Indeed, it is very laughable that *he could not deliver his cousin* who was the 2019 APC House of Assembly candidate, *where his Ward lost woefully to the People’s Democratic Party’s (PDP) candidate, Hon. Matthew Opuoru..* What a show of shame!
3. It is a fact that the Warri South Constituency 2 is comprised of Pessu Ward 7, Okere Ward 8, Igbudu Ward 9, Edjeba Ward 10, Okumagba 1 Ward 11 and Okumagba 2 Ward 12; which is mainly the Urhobo Wards, *predominantly 50% are Urhobos who are not indigenes of NEITHER Agbarha-Warri NOR Okere Urhobo* but resides in the aforesaid Constituency 2 or beyond.
It is worthy of note that the results from the respective governorship elections the opposition Party has gotten since the year 2003 was as a result of the commitments and unwavering supports of the *Urhobos Non-Indigenes of the Agbarha-Warri and Okere Urhobo, as well as other non Urhobo indigenes like the Ijaws, Hausas, Edos, Igbos, Isokos* just to mention a few. The Agbarha-Warri and Okere Urhobo have always pinched its tent with the ruling PDP, hence its ancestral Wards (Bowen Ward 6, Okumagba 1 Ward 11) had no results to show that they were won by the opposition Party.
We, therefore urge all APC members in the Local Government Area, in particular to jettison the publications as they CANNOT give what they do not have.
Its LGA Chairman, Mr. Rone Nelson has reiterated his position by reminding members to shun any form of inducements and to continually remain firm, focused, resolute and law abiding as he believes that the Hon. (Barr.) Buowe Silas led State Executive Committee in association with the Chief Festus Keyamo’s led State Council of Leaders would bring the expected dividend of democracy to the State.
