Families of kidnapped passengers of the AK 9 Abuja-Kaduna train have disclosed plans to embark on a protest on Monday in Abuja.
They said they can no longer cope with the silence of the Federal Government and security agencies.
Though the exact location of the proposed protest is unknown, they said they would occupy government facilities to drive home their point.
According to some family members, the ill-treatment of their loved ones and the perceived silence by the relevant authorities necessitated their decision to embark on the protest.
They also said the latest video by the terrorists has thrown them into shock.
The victims were kidnapped on March 28 after an attack on the Kaduna-bound train.
One of the family members, Mrs. Evelyn Asiribo, whose husband is amongst the victims said she and her children are in pain.
Asiribo told The Nation: “Since I saw the video last night, the emotional torture I have been going through has doubled.
“My children have been without their father for over 100 days and it is not an experience I wish for my enemies.
“Life has not been the same since he was kidnapped. Watching the latest video from the bandits has thrown us all into another round of shock. We are in pain.
“We thought they would have been released by now but at this point, with little or no efforts from government, we are only looking up to God to come to our aid.”
Another family member, Idayat Yusuf, whose two sisters were recently released by the terrorists, described the video as “terrible”.
She said: “The video is a terrible one. I could not control my tears when I watched it. Though my two sisters have been released, I can imagine what other family members are going through.
“I don’t know why the government is silent about this matter but I believe we are closer to the end of their (victims) ordeal.”
Another family member, who did not want his name in print said:
“We will protest the continuous stay of our loved ones in terrorist den tomorrow (Monday) and we hope the government still has listening ears.
“We are helpless at this point. They need to assure us that our loved ones will be rescued soon. The wait is longer than we envisaged and it is affecting other aspects of our lives.”
