Senator Monday Okpebholo, the All Progressive Congress (APC) governorship candidate, has emphasized that no child should die due to lack of funds for medical bills or inadequate healthcare facilities.
He was speaking at Ekpoma, where he encountered students from Ambrose Alli University (AAU) protesting along the Ekpoma-Benin Expressway, carrying placards and seeking donations for their colleague, Etinosa Raymond.
Raymond, a student of AAU, has been diagnosed with kidney disease and requires ₦6 million for a kidney transplant.
Upon hearing the students’ plea, Senator Okpebholo was moved and immediately donated ₦7 million to cover the cost of Raymond’s treatment.
**”I just got the information now that one of your friends is sick and he needs ₦6 million for treatment. I don’t want you people in the streets anymore. I want that boy well; he must not die. So, I will give you ₦7 million now so his treatment can commence immediately,” he stated**.
The students had temporarily blocked a section of the busy Ekpoma-Benin Expressway, appealing for help from well-meaning Nigerians to raise the necessary funds for Raymond’s surgery.
Senator Okpebholo’s timely intervention not only provided the needed financial assistance but also highlighted the urgent need for accessible healthcare for all.
