As part of our drive in repositioning every department in Auchi Polytechnic for value addition, global competitiveness and being a hub for entrepreneurship and practical demonstration of our class work, I took a tour of the department of Polymer Engineering Technology today as we kick-start the commencement of commercial production of paint in our institution.
Auchi Polytechnic will be producing different grades of paint which include: Emulsion, Text Coat, Satin, Matt, Screeding Paint, Oil and Gloss Paints, Flextured Paint, POP Emulsion Paint, Marble Effect Paint, Marble Trowel Paint, Base Coat Paint, Graffitex Paint, Anti Rust Paint, Varnish Paint and Under Coat Paint etc.
Our goal in the long run, is to embark on large scale production of paint with a trade name which is poised to compete favourably with other paints in Nigeria.
This will boost the internally generated revenue of the Auchi Polytechnic as well as bring to the fore, the creative potentials inherent in all our various departments.
In addition, this will form part of the areas for which our students will be taught entrepreneurial skills in order to become employers of labour. This will be a huge step towards fighting poverty, youth unemployment and crimes. I salute Engr. Mathew Chukwu and members of his team involved in this lauderdale initiative.
As an institution, we will continue to push for the translation of our knowledge into practical skills aimed at impacting the society.
