Blasphemy: FCT Police Command Arrests 15 Suspects Over Death Of Vigilante Personnel

The FCT Police Command has announced the arrest of some angry youths at Federal Housing Authority Estate, Lugbe in the Abuja Municipal Area Council who set ablaze a vigilante personnel for allegedly blaspheming Prophet Muhammad (PBUH).

The victim, identified as Ahmad Usman a.k.a. Small Hundaru, was reportedly kept at a vigilante office in the area before the irate youths mobilised and seized him from his place of refuge.

The Police Command, in a statement on Monday signed by its Public Relations Officer, announced the arrest and detention of the suspects.

“The FCT Police Command has arrested 15 suspects in connection with the violence and killing of the late Ahmad Usman, a member of a vigilante group, in the Lugbe Area of the FCT on June 4, 2022”.

“The arrest of the suspects follows ongoing investigations into the unfortunate incident and circumstances that led to the killing of the 30-year-old Usman,” the police said.

The Commissioner of Police, FCT Command, Babaji Sunday, also assured that the Command would get to the root of the matter and bring all the perpetrators to book.

Babaji, while calling for calm, said, “We assure that the Command would get to the root of the matter and bring all the perpetrators to book. We, therefore, reiterate that justice would be served in the matter.”
