The Edo Building Materials Sellers Association has endorsed Senator Monday Okpebholo, the APC governorship candidate, promising him massive votes. Speaking at the event, the Director-General of the APC Campaign, Senator Mathew Uroghide, thanked the association for their support, recounting how his father-in-law had advised him to always seek the support of the Igbos in Benin.
Addressing the association, Senator Okpebholo expressed gratitude for their leadership’s endorsement. He recalled his history of working with an Igbo man in Jos, saying he shares the Igbo’s zeal for development. Okpebholo promised to provide the association with interest-free loans to boost their businesses and the Edo economy.
The association appealed to Okpebholo for the construction of an international market in Benin, similar to those in other states. The association’s leadership assured Okpebholo of over 25,000 members’ votes, stating that anyone they support always wins.
In contrast, Okpebholo criticized the current governor, Obaseki, accusing him of being a businessman whose agenda is to loot the state. He claimed that Obaseki has plunged Edo State into over 570 billion Naira in debt, leaving a legacy of huge debt rather than development.
Okpebholo promised that, if elected, he will not only help build an international market for the building materials sellers but also provide them with interest-free loans to boost their businesses and the state’s economy.
