365NEWS gathered that a building apartment within the courtyard of the Palace of the Ooni of Ife, Oba Adeyeye Enitan Ogunwusi Ojaja II, has been reportedly razed on Friday night.
The incident said to have occurred around 11:30pm was triggered by power surge which exploded through electrical appliances in the apartment.
The Director of Media and Public Affairs at the Ooni’s Palace, Comrade Moses Olafare confirmed the incident in a statement on Saturday.
Olafare said that the inferno however did not spread beyond the affected building located at a section of the palace premises, as it was swiftly put off through the combined efforts of the Government Fire Service, OAU Fire Service & Palace Emergency Control Unit.
He noted that the incident did not record casualties, injuries, or even the loss of any cultural item.
