As APC Primaries draw closer, the Leadership of All Progressive Congress (APC) in Okpella, Etsako East local government met last week and voted to reduce the number of Aspirants from Okpella to 2, Engr Abu Abdulganiyu and Chief Dekeri Aruna (Danco) were favoured.
This is a laudable development from the Leaders that deserve commendation.
The meeting was presided over by our able National Leader, Prince Abdulmalik Afegbua with all the party Organs present including the 4 Ward Chairmen from Okpella, Senatorial Youth Leader, Mr Giwa Ibrahim and all critical Stakeholders.
We implore them to take further steps to prune down to one Aspirant who will be supported to slug it out with other Aspirants from other zones.
Between Engr Abu Abdulganiyu and Mr Dekeri Anamelo, we all know that Hon Ganiyu from all indications have the support of the streets, the rank and file of the party while Danco is believed to have engaged in several anti party activities. It is alleged that he worked against the party in the 2020 Governorship election were APC won Nine (9) Wards out of Ten (10) in Etsako East. The party lost Ward 06, Danco and Eshieshie’s Ward with 211 vote. Hon Ganiyu’s Ward 08 voted the highest in Okpella, 2001 votes.
Ganiyu, since joining the party has shown resilience, loyalty and above all, have the mental capacity and temperament to represent the People of Etsako Federal Constituency equitably.
Okpella must get it right this time. “History will forgive us for taking the wrong decision but will never forgive us for not taking any decision at all”
