I Col David Imuse, RTD, on behalf of the All Progressives Congress, APC, Edo state join the great people of our state in congratulating Your Royal Majesty, the Oba of Benin, Ewuare II, as you formally receive two of the artworks looted from the palace by British forces in 1897 that were recently released to the Federal government, which in its wisdom, authorized their release to your Majesty.
That the event coincides with the 5th anniversary celebration of your ascension to the throne of your forebears is very auspicious, Your Royal Majesty.
We also commend Your Royal Majesty for initially postponing the marking of your fifth anniversary on the throne of your forefathers in honour of an illustrious Son of the State, the late Captain Idahosa Okunbo, who died.
Your reception of these looted artefacts at this time, is a great accomplishment. It makes one proud and good, as an Edo person, because Your Royal Majesty over time worked hard to achieve it. We are happy that your efforts were completely worth it.
Your Majesty, your determination, dedication and enthusiasm are really inspiring. On behalf of the membership and leadership of our great party, I wish you many years of great achievements as all of the looted artefacts are returned to your palace.
