Edo civil servants are in panic as indications emerge that any of them who fails to vote for the PDP in Saturday’s elections may be sacked by the outgoing PDP government.
The government already in panic has invited all Staff on Salary Grade Level 09/2 and above in Ministries, Departments, and Agencies (MDAs) to a crucial meeting with the governor via a circular letter dated 16th September, 2024.
A source said civil servants are to show up unfailing with their PVCs at the meeting.
The letter was addressed to all Permanent Secretaries, Heads of Extra-Ministerial Departments and Agencies and the Chief Executives of Boards and Parastatals of Edo State.
Titled, “INVITATION TO A MEETING WITH HIS EXCELLENCY, THE GOVERNOR”, and signed by the Permanent Secretary, Human Resources, at the Office of Head of Service.
It says: ” am directed to inform you that His Excellency, Mr. Godwin Nogheghase Obaseki, Governor of Edo State, will be meeting with Staff on Salary Grade Level 09/2 and above in Ministries, Departments, and Agencies (MDAs) as detailed below:
– Date: Tuesday, 17th September, 2024
– Time: 8:00 AM
– Venue: Sir Victor Uwaifo Creative Hub Airport Road, Benin City.
In light of the above, Permanent Secretaries and Heads of Extra-Ministerial Departments and Agencies are required to attend the meeting with their eligible staff, as indicated in the attached schedule”.
The circular letter declared that affected officials must, “Ensure that the contents of this Circular are communicated to all concerned Officers for their information and strict compliance”.
To ensure that no civil servant miss the meeting the circular said, “ECTS Buses will be available at the following locations to transport staff to the Sir Victor Uwaifo Creative Hub, Airport Road, Benin City, Tuesday 17th September, 2024 between 7.00 AM and 7:30 AM:
1. Secretariat Complex, Sapele Road, Benin City;
2. EDOGIS/Urban Water Corporation, Sapele Road, Benin City;
3. Agriculture Hub, Oko-Ogba Road, Benin City”
