In demonstration of their love towards the victims and families of last month Ikabigbo Community Hunters/Vigilantes and Suspected Herdsmen clash that left two dead and others sustaining injuries from gun shots, a Committee of Friends drawn across the entire Etsakoland and beyond on the 10th of July donated cash to the affected victims and families of the deceased.
Announcing the donation at the palace of Ikabigbo Community Head, the Leader of the delegation and former Executive Chairman of Etsako West Local Government Council, Alhaji Yakubu Musa (Yakson), described the cash donations as a token of love and appreciation to support the bereaved Families.
He asserted that the token was to let the Family know that the efforts of their loved ones did not go unnoticed.
He commended the Hunters and Vigilantes for their bravery and industry to safeguard the Society.
The Former Council Chairman urged the families not to give up in life, but rather, they should do all they can to make their loved ones proud by making judicious use of the money towards the education of the Children of the Deceased.
In his remark, a Member of the delegation and a distinguished Son of the Soil(Ikabigbo),Prince Akeem Zibiri appealed to the Families to ensure that the donation is used for the purpose is it meant to encourage the donors to do more.
On his part, Barr. Patrick Inobemhe, said the efforts of the Community Vigilantes and Hunters are highly appreciated and urged them to continue to sustain the tempo.
In her Speech, the Deputy National Women leader of the People’s Democratic Party, Hajia Adiza Umoru sued for unity and cooperation among the Wives of the Deceased and avoid anything that will cause acrimony in the Family.
In his response, the Community Head of Ikabigbo, Chief Braimah Aleghe, thanked the Committee of Friends and the delegation for remembering the Community and the bereaved familiesin their moments of grief and assured them of ensuring that the money is judiciously used.
The delegation also visited the Families of the deceased , Mr. Nurudeen Umosor and other victims that sustained various degrees of injuries to commiserate with them.
In attendance were Members of the Edo North Vigilantee Group led by their Chairman, Alhaji Umoru J. Jimoh and the Ikabigbo Community Council of Chiefs, Chief Raphael Ekhaisomhi, Community Head of Irekpai.
It will be recalled that suspected Herdsmen last month killed a Vigilantee member and a Reverend Father in a gun duel in an attempt to rescue the abducted Reverend Father and Man’s Servant from the hands of their abductors.
