In going through the several pictures I took during the election campaigns for Obaseki, tears want to run down my eyes. How could he have forgotten all PDP did for him just so soon. I was among those who went round 192 wards, while the governor was making wild promises to the electorates. None of those have been fulfilled as we speak. The leaders of the party too went round with him to as if he had been in the party all his life. Chief Dan Orbih, Bar. Ken Imansuangbon, Engr. Gideon Ikhine, Bar. Paschal Ogbome, Engr. Ogbeide Ihama, Mike Onolememen Senator Clifford Ordia, Hon. Serguis Ogun…the list is endless.
And as the proverbial APC saying, “Obaseki go pepper una eyes, we know am.” He lived up to their expectations and the Edo State people are just getting to knowing the type of character he is, which he used in destroying APC before he left. APC might never be able to recover from the ruins.
PDP need to be strategic; they need to plan to live beyond him. If they depend on him for the integration of the party going forward, the party will suffer the fate of APC in the state.
The first thing PDP should do is to totally severe ties with him and his co-travellers. It’s members should learn to leave off politics for the next three years, he has nothing to offer as his trails is that of destruction. The party is strong and should be working towards 2023 to field one of its most popular members from Esan, someone who can cut across the state in popularity.
I recommend the Edo Central Senatorial District for their no-nonsense approach. They have not only suspended Tom Ikimi for his anti-party activities which is corrupt in outlook, they have stopped all further joint meetings with the APC ungrateful elements in the party. The seeds must be separated from the chaff. Edo North and South Senatorial Districts should do the same. We must take back our party from these hawks.
Secondly, the party should not bulk on the issue of desolution of the exco no matter what is the seductive but destructive outcome of the meeting they are having with the governor. It’s enough to forgive a betrayer, but to trust is another matter entirely. Obaseki Philip Ogie Ojizua cannot the trusted. The quadruple cannot be trusted. They are modern day Godfathers in the mould of Oshiomole.
And again, if possible, more suits should be instituted to make sure no single compromise would make it possible to disolve the exco since the matter is subjudice. The party must be ready for a long legal show down.
Obaseki is a man who uses propaganda to achieve his aims and then dump the people he had used, recruit new ones to achieve other purposes. If you look at it, he used APC to achieve his first term through the process of technocrat propaganda with the unsuspecting Oshiomole, APC and the public. After he achieved it, he dumped the party and his benefactor, Oshiomole, who gave him the ticket against all odds. Then he went to public first with the Passion that some APC members wanted him to share the Edo State money, he refused and that’s what they are after him. The public was sympathetic and arrested. He became the modern day saviour of the state, APC became demons. He factionalized the party, just as he is planning to do in PDP. Afterwards, he was tossed out of the party and came to PDP…
I know the party, PDP cannot be factionalized under the leadership of Chief Dan Orbih, who is the Vice Chairman South South and Dr. Tony Azeigbemi. These are two veterans in the game and have staunch followers who will not waver except for some few hungry ones. The worst case scenario is for those who have no electoral values; Charles Idahosa, Philip, Dokpesi, Tom Ikimi, Mike Ogiadomhe, Ojuzua, Ogie…to go and form their own party with APGA or N-APC if they so wish. The soul of PDP will remain with us.
No one should be blackmailed because of elections or appointments to relinquish the party’s position of not trading with excos, from state to ward. Let is be intact. This is the most viable option and strategy to defeat Obaseki.
Go to Benin where I live and ask about Obaseki, his rating is all time low. Nothing to show for his audio tapes. When it rains, people swim out of their homes. He has lost all the goodwill of the people, all that is left is the carcasses of a fading emperor.
Come to think of it, how can Obaseki be calling meeting of stakeholders and he win have relics as members? The likes of Dokpesi, Tom Ikimi, Charlie Temple (that destructive controversial individual that sees nothing good in life)
PDP need to shine it’s eyes, Obaseki does not mean well for the party. He want to take over the party and give it to Philip and co who will in turn run it and then collapse it back to APC. This must be resisted by every single member of the party. It’s doable
