Edo State Police Shot Another Man Dead In Ekpoma

Edo State Police Command has killed a man suspected of being a dangerous armed robber.

Emmanuel Johnson, 24, was killed on Monday, 15 August, after officers received a distress call.

Johnson was killed in Ekpoma, Esan West Local Government of Edo State.

According to the information gathered, some suspected armed robbers, numbering 5, including Johnson, attacked Mandela hostel at Gabriel Street, Ihumudumu, Ekpoma.

The gang was intercepted by officers attached to Ekpoma Divisional headquarters, Standard Gazette learned.

Police said the robbers opened fire after sighting them, which led to an exchange of gunfire.

Some of the suspects allegedly scampered for safety while unlucky Johnson was hit by bullets.

Nigerian police said its officers are still in search of fleeing members.

One locally made cut-to-size single barrel gun, five live cartridges, four expended cartridges and one laptop were recovered from the suspects.

The Commissioner of Police Edo State, CP Abutu Yaro, again urged the public to continue providing the police with useful and credible information on criminal activities across Edo state.

He said the police are combatants ready to neutralize any crime before it happens.

The Edo state police boss advised anyone who observes suspicious persons treating bullet wounds to report to the nearest Police Station.
