The need for governments at all levels to explore ranching as a way of breeding Cattle or risk sizeable number of people to terminal diseases has again been stressed.
This was the submission of Fugar Women irrespective of Party affiliation during a Protest against Kidnappings and open grazing by Men Suspected to be Nomadic herders.
According to them, most of their Crops have been destroyed by the herders and their Cattle thereby resulting to food Scarcity.
The Women, stressed that, the Agricultural Potentials of the Community are very high, lamenting that improper Agricultural Policies had impeded the growth of the Sector over the years.
They enjoined Governments at all levels through the Ministry of Agriculture to develop Schemes that would interface with farmers whereby they could give them Support through input Subsidy and Mechanical equipment.
At the residence of the Anwu Of Avhianwu, Pa Dirisu Idemoh, the leader of the Protesting Women Mrs Victoria Braimah”‘ said the essence of the Protest was to express their displeasure over incessant Kidnappings and Open grazing by Men suspected to be herders.
They called on Government and other non governmental Organizations to rise to the occasion by providing adequate security in order to encourage farmers. Other areas visited were the Divisional Police Headquarters and the local Government Council Secretariat, Fugar .
Experts are of the opinion that Open grazing poses great dangers to the health of the Citizens, adding that Ranching is the best practice in Cattle rearing.
They urged governments to enter partnership with International Organizations to help develop some areas into ranches which would ultimately reduce insecurity and guarantee food Security.
