It was a form of political reunion for Governor Godwin Obaseki, his deputy, Philip Shaibu and Senator Adams Oshiomhole at the weekend during the burial of late wife of the immediate past Edo North Senator, Francis Alimikhena, in Agenebode, Edo State.
Recall that both Obaseki and Shaibu were strong members of the political camp of Oshiomhole before they parted ways with the former governor.
Obaseki and Shaibu dumped the All Progressives Congress for the Peoples Democratic Party as a result of the political disagreement with Oshiomhole before the 2020 Edo gubernatorial election, where they emerged victorious.
The trio, were among several dignitaries present during the burial of Monica Alimikhena which took place at Igiode, Etsako East local government area of Edo amidst tributes, emotions, tears and agony.
The dignitaries which also include former deputy governor, Mike Oghiadume, Edo State PDP chairman, Augustine Azegbeni, Catholic Bishop of Auchi, Gabriel Dunia, among others, described the late sexagenarian as a great chief and a true mother who had high regard for family values and the downtrodden.
The final journey home of late Monica started with a funeral mass at the Holy Family Catholic church Igiode Etsako East Local Government Area of Edo state, with the
church was filled to capacity.
It was a carnival-like procession of the body of the late High Chief of Uwanno Kingdom, as the the corpse was moved to the private residence of the widower in his hometown in Igiode.
At the graveside, emotions were high, tears, agony and hugs of consolation dominated the scene as the body was finally committed to Mother Earth.
Late High Chief Monica Alimikhena was the Iye Iyase of Uwanno kingdom in Agenebode, Edo State.
She is survived by children, grandchildren and husband.
Her husband, Francis Alimikhena was the Deputy Chief Whip of the 8th Nigerian Senate, who lost the 2023 election to Oshiomhole after dumping APC to pick the PDP senatorial ticket.
