Ohanaeze Ndigbo, the apex Igbo cultural organisation, has debunked the said invitation to the three major presidential candidates, comprising Mr. Peter Obi of Labour Party (LP), Alhaji Bola Ahmed Tinubu of the All Progressive Congress (APC) and Alhji Atiku Abubakar of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to attend their 2022 Igbo Day celebration.
The national publicity secretary of Ohanaeze Ndigbo, Dr. Alex Ogbonnia, in a statement Sunday said there was no way Ohanaeze would invite presidential candidates from opposing camps to honour them with chieftaincy titles and at the same time pray for them.
Ogbonnia asserted in the statement that the said invitation did not emanate from the Professor George Obiozor-led Ohanaeze Ndigbo, but the handiwork of mischief makers and fraudulent minded people who are out to achieve their selfish ends.
“The attention of the Ohanaeze Ndigbo Worldwide has been drawn to the press release by mischief makers to the effect that Ohanaeze Ndigbo worldwide, has invited the presidential candidates of APC, Asiwaju Tinubu, PDP, Alhaji Atiku, and LP, Mr. Obi, to grace the 2022 Igbo Day celebrations as special guests.”
