Edo State All Progressives Congress (APC) Caretaker Committee deputy State Chairman and Public Affairs Commentator, Jarrett Tenebe, has blamed the administration of former President Olusegun Obasanjo over rising insecurity in Nigeria.
He made this known yesterday in Benin City while featuring on Independent Television on the topic ” State of Security in Nigeria”.
According to him, insecurity in Nigeria can be traced to the administration of Obasanjo when he disbanded the StrikeForce on Security established by Sani Abacha because of the hatred he has for the latter.
He reiterated that Obasanjo would have sent the StrikeForce members for rehabilitation before disbanding them.
On how to curb insecurity in the country, Tenebe, maintained that it is the responsibility of governments at all levels to empower Security Agencies and other local Vigilantees to encourage to give their best in protecting lives and Property.
The APC deputy State Chairman also attributed the cause of insecurity to non usage of Security votes and illegal deduction from Councils funds by State governors.
His words ” What are the governors doing with the Security Vote and still deducting from local government funds. ” How do you expect the Security Agencies to function well when they Know how much you are collecting monthly as Security Vote ” Tenebe added
He called on State governors to co – opt Security Agencies by financing them to put in their best to provide security.
