Benin City – Police have arrested three suspected kidnappers believed to be responsible for atrocious abductions in the metropolis.
The Edo State Police command said the suspects were the gang responsible for the alleged murder of a commercial motorcyclist around Okada area of Edo State.
The suspects, Sule Saidu, Zakare and Musa Mohammed, are allegedly responsible for terrorizing Okada and the environs in Ovia North East Local Government area of Edo State.
The Standard Gazette learned that the suspects operate by laying ambush on roads in the locality, abducting commuters.
According to the information gathered, the gang allegedly abducted five traders returning from the market and kept them for days in the forest until ransoms were paid.
The alleged, suspected vicious kidnappers reportedly shot and killed a motorcyclist because he saw them while abducting the victims.
One of the suspects confessed to the crime, saying, “I am from Kaduna state but born in Utesse, Edo state. I push cow, but joined the gang last year. In the kidnapping, I got N130,000 after sharing our ransom.”
The Police Public Relations Officer, SP Chidi Nwabuzor, said the gang’s leader, Sule Saudi, has been on the police wanted list.
Nwabuzor said Sule has been mentioned severally by most arrested Kidnappers in Okada, Utesse and environs.
The three Suspects are expected to be charged in court soon.
