PROTESTERS were seen presently at the Ambrose Alli University (AAU), Ekpoma school gate over hike in hostel fees from N30,000 to N100,000 and other hike in fees.
Sources revealed to Trojan.com.ng reporter in Ekpoma that the current management of the university under the leadership of Prof Sunny Adagbonyin, a brother in law to Governor Godwin Obaseki has been calamitous.
“AAU’s funding situation worsened immediately after we supported/voted for Governor Obaseki’s re-election.
“From a N270-million-naira monthly subvention to a paltry sum of N41 million naira.
“Where did the rest monthly 229 million gone or going?
“He, who is supposed to be the best Governor is now becoming the WORST we ever had! GOD, have mercy on us and deliver us from this tyranny.
“This is what you get when tyrants both at state and school level are in power.
“Obaseki the scammer is finally nailing education in Edo State with two purported academic session running simultaneously, disastrously”, one of our sources roared.
“Another stakeholder told Trojan.com.ng correspondent that there’s no week without an event or issue emanating from AAU for the wrong reasons. AAU management has grossly failed; this a failed school.
“The labours of our heroes past shall not be in vain as contained in our national anthem. But today AAU management is a worst case scenario.
“What is happening today in AAU is the dividend of MOU domiciled with the MOU Governor.
“It’s obvious that the so called Edo State Governor, Obaseki is playing on our intelligence regarding our great university, Ambrose Alli University.
“What will not happen in other universities is what obaseki have subjected AAU to. AAU is now run like private secondary school, workers are selected to be paid salary, school fees increasment without due consultation, hostel fee increasment undue for.
“SIT is setup to buy the mind of ignorance citizens not to know that the Edo State Governor is killing AAU. The Governor can not deny that he is not aware of all the corrupt system that has been happening in AAU or not been informed instead he is feeding from the corrupt system, pretending he is solving the problem in AAU.
“It’s time the people collect key from the management and hand it over to the enijies of great Esanland. From now till after Presidential election, Obaseki must go, it’s already a vote of no confidence and misappropriation of democratic system of government.
“If Obaseki want to defend himself, let he tell us AAU monthly allocation, provide the numbers of report of committee setup that are unaccountable, the result are swept under the carpet, and two Vice Chancellor your hands are tied.
“How do you operate a higher institution without a state allocation, you better go and hand our great Ambrose Alli University to our Enijies, before the great sons and daughters of Esan do that.
“I dared every good sons and daughters to take action before it will be too late. Keep politics and party sentiment aside, this is for the greatness of Esanland”, one of the concerned elder of Esanland said.
Another source told our correspondent that the forcefully reopened school while the local and national ASUU chapters are on strike has less than 15% compliance.
Efforts to reach the school management proved abortive at the time of filling this report.
Those that failed to comply with the employers directives to resumed should not be paid as enshrined in the constitution no work no pay ,payimg strikng workers have fuelled their senselss strikes knowing they will be paid for the period of strikes .aau asuu are the biggest serback to knowledge transfer with their award for marks for cash and kinds in some cases for sex.the govt been the employer should do the needful by revamping aau to world standard
