NGO Committed To Assisting Incarcerated Persons With Hygiene Products And Attires Seek Registration

Authorities of the Edo state government have visited the office of the Victoria White Foundation in Benin City, the State capital as part of efforts to formally register the organization.

At the end of the short visit, Mr Victor Ofure Osehobo, who is the Coordinator of the foundation expressed joy at the visit. He told the officials that he and his younger sister, Irobekhian Dorothy decided to set up the organization to immortalize their late Mother, Mrs Victoria Idoni White Emela.

He said, “One of our objectives is the periodic provision of hygiene products such as soaps, shampoos, toothpaste, and other personal care products, for incarcerated individuals to ensure they can maintain proper hygiene during their time in prison”.

“We also plan supply of appropriate clothing and essential items such as job interview attire, seasonal clothing, and durable footwear,
to incarcerated individuals to facilitate their successful reintegration into society after serving their terms”.

Mr Osehobo said, “These aims and objectives tallied with the values of my mother while she lived”, adding that he recalls accompanying, “her on several occasions when she visited correctional centers before she died on her birthday in March 2021”.

Led by Mr Elvis Omodan, an Officer of the Ministry of Youth and Social Development, the officials who met with the management of the foundation who answered relevant questions, promised to inform the foundation of its decision in the weeks ahead.
