Niger Governor Converts Hotel To Teaching Hospital, Awards N18.6bn Contract

Governor Umar Mohammed Bago of Niger state has awarded the contract for conversion of Shiroro Hotel Minna to IBB University Teaching Hospital.

The contract is worth N18.62 billion.

The governor revealed this on Wednesday when he supervised the signing of the contract in Minna, the state capital, warning that compromise on quality will not be tolerated.

He said that the move was a demostration of government’s unwavering commitment to delivering world-class healthcare services to the people of Niger state.

Governor Bago emphasised that no variation of contract sum would be entertained, adding “there would be no compromise on quality throughout the project. We are determined to provide a state-of-the-art teaching hospital that would meet the highest standards of excellence in healthcare”.

The break down of the project showed that Thinklab Development Company, a renowned construction firm, is awarded the contract for Lot 1, valued at N13 billion.

Their scope of work includes the expansion, refurbishment, and upgrading of existing structures of Shiroro hotel as well as the construction of new buildings.

The execution of lot 2 of the project according to the governor is awarded to Fulus Group company, valued at N1.75 billion while Thinklab Energy, a supplier of essential equipment, was awarded the contract for Lot 3, valued at N3.87billion.

The company will be responsible for the supply, installation, and commissioning of state-of-the-art equipment that will ensure the hospital is equipped with cutting-edge technology to deliver the highest quality of care to patients.

Bago expressed confidence in the capabilities of the selected contractors, citing their proven track record of excellence and expertise in executing complex projects.

He said, “The conversion of Shiroro Hotel into the IBB University Teaching Hospital signifies a bold step towards improving healthcare services in Niger State. Once completed, the hospital will serve as a beacon of hope, providing advanced medical care and promoting a healthier future for all residents
