POLITICS NIGERIA reports that some protesters are currently at the Unity Fountain, Abuja. Many of them speaking to the press are criticising the terrorists – bandits.
The bandit conflict in northern Nigeria has risen due to continued insecurity and possible jihadist influence.
Large-scale weapon smuggling has allowed criminal gangs access to heavy weapons, increasing the deadliness of attacks. Underequipped local and federal forces coupled with the harsh terrain make offensive actions into the forest dangerous and susceptible to ambushes and attacks.
Continued government inability to effectively deal with the problem has also allowed the insecurity in northern Nigeria to spread and grow in ferocity.
The wicked burning to death of travellers recently seem to be event that infuriated northerners most, as they are no determined to put the government on their toes.
